Alive. One word that best described the man who passed away at 5 am on Sunday at Breach Candy Hospital, where he was admitted a week ago for renal failure.
Enjoying every bit of his life, even his illness, the second son of Prithviraj Kapoor never stopped living. And even in his death, the legend will surely live on.
The last rites will be held at 11 am on Monday at Banganga after his grandson Vishwapratapraj Kapoor comes back home from US.
Born in Bombay to a Pathan hailing from Peshawar, Shammi joined his father Prithvi Raj Kapoor on stage as a junior artiste in 1948 on a salary of Rs 50 per month. "I stayed with the theatre till 1952, my last paycheck being Rs 300," claimed the last Junglee of tinsel town.

Karan Pangali’s a better dancer than me—Hrithik
B-town’s God of dancing Hrithik Roshan, one of the three judges on the dance reality show ‘Just Dance’, is all praises for Karan Pangali, a promising contestant on the show.

Raving about Karan, Hrithik said that the participant from UK, who despite being a trained classical dancer never hesitates to try versatile dance styles, is a better dancer than him.
Apparently, Karan is gaining popularity not just for his dancing skills, but also for being a mirror image of Hrithik Roshan, appearance-wise.
When asked if he, too, like the others, feels that Karan is his look-alike, the superstar said, “What I like about Karan is that he is a classical dancer who is not afraid to break the norms. He’s a handsome guy, but whether we look alike is for others to decide. I see only his dance. He’s a better dancer than me.”
Hrithik awards 3 lakhs to each eliminated contestants
While generally winners are honored with trophies, something unusual happened on Hrithik Roshan’s dance show.
Reportedly, the B-town Greek god Hrithik, to make up for breaking the dreams of the participants by eliminating them, awarded each eliminated contestant a handsome sum of Rs3 lakhs, so that they can use the cash to develop their career.
"Hrithik was so touched by the contestants on Just Dance, that he have them 3 lakh each, to help them pursue their dream in dancing,” an insider informed.
Being introduced as a superstar unnerves me -- Hrithik
Though he is counted among the A-lister actors and has a crazy fan following, Hrithik prefers not to be called a superstar when he is not performing.
The actor states that being referred to as superstar, when he hasn’t put on his acting or dancing shoes and is not on stage, makes him feel uncomfortable.
When asked if his flop films, namely, ‘Guzaarish’ and ‘Kites’, have affected his superstar status, Hrithik told TOI, “I don't know where that comes from. I get very, very awkward when people refer to me as a superstar – except when I am being introduced on stage where I am supposed to perform as a superstar. That I'm comfortable with, because I have the jacket and the mask of a star on. But if you introduce me, without all that, as a superstar, it unnerves me, it makes me a little uncomfortable.”
